Alarm Lady Bulletin #24

Survey Information

Subject #1

In June, we began including a Survey in our monthly statements. The Survey asks seven questions about the services we provide. Question #6 is:

What type of system do you currently have with us?
  • Camera Surveillance?
  • Burglar Alarm?
  • Code Blue Emergency Phone?
  • Access Control?
  • Fire Detection?
  • Personal Emergency Button?
The responses we received were interesting because many people checked "Access Control" when in reality; they have a "Burglar Alarm System". Theoretically, a burglar alarm system does provide access control; however, I thought it would be beneficial to explain WHAT an access control system is.

An access control system incorporates a means by which to enter through a door by entering a code on a touchpad or presenting a "card" or "tag" to a "reader" which in-turn acknowledges that the person is authorized to enter. At the point of authorization, a door strike or electronic lock releases and the person can enter. The entry is recorded by logging the person's access code and the time of entry. General Alarm, Inc. also provides state of the art Biometric Access Control Systems. Biometric devices may use your fingerprint or palm print or conduct a brief retina scan or even a vascular pattern scan. These technologies are fascinating!

Subject #2

Monday, August 27th on Channel 8 (WISH), between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. (during the evening news) and again on Saturday, September 1st between 6:45 and 7:00 a.m. (during Day Break), there will be a special on residential alarm systems. Thanks to the fact that General Alarm, Inc. has an excellent rating with Angie's List (which in turn, is thanks to our loyal customers!), we were asked to be featured for this story. One of our customers, Mr. Greg Garrison, will express his thoughts about his General Alarm security and fire system. If you get a chance, you may want to tune in.

With your security in mind, I am sincerely,

Lisa
