Alarm Lady Bulletin #21 New Technologies Are Upon Us!!! Many of our customers subscribe to one of our services, "Back-up Cellular Monitoring" for added security in the event their land line is seized. Those customers are in process of receiving a letter from me explaining the following: "The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a ruling which states that cellular carriers may discontinue operating their analog networks in February 2008. It is not a requirement for the cellular carriers to turn off their analog service however; they can disconnect their AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone Service) to anyone who relies on those lines. So, you might ask, why are you telling ME this? At General Alarm, Inc., we are keeping pace with changes in technology to keep our customers secure and doing so well ahead of the FCC timetable. Therefore, over the next 12 months, we will be scheduling your Cellular Backup replacement. If, you have a preferred date/day/time for this work to be done; I invite you to contact Linda Smallwood, Service Manager at 317-925-8915 x 112 or lsmallwood@genalarm.com. Otherwise, she will contact you to schedule your work as soon as possible. There will be a charge for this work however; the rate that you are charged monthly will not change unless we receive an increase from the providers." It is also interesting to note that this change in technology from analog to digital will be affecting your television service! More information on this and its potential affect to you can be found at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/digitaltv.html. Cable subscribers may need new DTV equipment to view DTV programming in digital formats. You should ask your cable provider what you will need and when. In the event you have questions about Cellular Monitoring services that are offered by General Alarm, Inc. OR if you would wish a review of your current security needs, I welcome your call or email. Thank you for your continued support of General Alarm, Inc. With your security in mind, I am sincerely, "The Alarm Lady" P.S. Did you know that General Alarm is a Woman's Business Enterprise (WBE) certified by the State of Indiana and the City of Indianapolis? If you have ANY questions, please contact me or one of my experienced staff members at 317-925-8915 or 800-878-7917 or email me at larmlady@genalarm.com. |
