Alarm Lady Bulletin #15

Very Important Personal Safety Tips………Please Read!
  • Remember that the ELBOW is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!
  • If a robber says, “give me your wallet”, DO NOT HAND IT TO THE ROBBER. Toss it away from you. Chances are the robber is more interested in the wallet or purse than you. When he goes for the wallet, RUN LIKE MAD in the other direction!
  • If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won’t see you, but someone behind you will.
  • Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc. and just sit…checking makeup, purses, checkbooks, making lists, etc. DO NOT DO THIS. As soon as you get into your car, LOCK the doors and leave.  If someone surprises you from the backseat and puts a gun to your head, DO NOT DRIVE OFF. Instead, gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will deploy to keep you safe but the person in the backseat will get the worst of the crash. As soon as you can, bail out and run! Hey, it’s better then finding your body in a remote location.
  • While in a parking garage or parking lot…BE AWARE. Look around you, look into your car…front and back before getting in but WALK WITH CONFIDENCE.
  • If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger side. Most killers attach their victims by pulling them into their vans while their victim is attempting to get in the car.
  • Obviously, look at both vehicles on each side of your parked car. If there is a person sitting alone in one of those other cars, walk back to the building you came out of and ask someone to walk out with you.
  • I know we all like to get our exercise, but take the elevator instead of stairs as stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. If a predator has a gun, and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN (preferably in a zigzag pattern). Statistics are that he will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times and even then, it most likely will not be a vital organ.
  • Remember, you can’t judge a book by its cover. Ted Bundy, the serial killer was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp and often asked “for help” into his vehicle which is when he abducted his next victim.
  • ALWAYS be cautious opening your door. You may hear what sounds like a crying baby and open the door. DO NOT open the door unless you have checked what is out there first.
  • And last, USE YOUR ALARM SYSTEM! You are the most precious and important thing in your house so protect yourself while in your home by using that security system…EVERY DAY, EVERY NIGHT.
