Security Tips for you from: The Alarm Lady PART ONESCAMS! Theyre everywhere! And now, even from the alarm industry. The US Postal Service has joined leading national consumer organizations in warning consumers about the top national fraud alerts, which include the purchase of alarm systems from non-credible sources. According to the Consumer Assistance Council, Inc. the promise of a cheap home security alarm system is one of the Five Biggest Lies Told to Consumers. The USPC issued the warning list based on more than 80,000 fraud complaints received in 2003. Postal officials claim that consumers receive a letter in which they are promised one of several valuable prizes, including the alarm system, in exchange for a small processing fee. The amount of money being forwarded to the rip-off artist far exceeds the value of the prize being offered, the warning stated. Consumers are warned to avoid scams such as this and only send money through the mail if they know the company they are dealing with is reputable. PART TWO To add to our celebration, we are putting together a 40th Anniversary Book of Letters. If YOU would like to send a letter expressing your thoughts about General Alarm or maybe a specific employee or experience, please do so. Wed like to have all of our letters in by August 13th. You should send your letter to: 3843 North Meridian StreetIndianapolis IN 46208 With your security in mind, I am sincerely, Lisa L. Prosser The Alarm Lady |
