The Month of May! 

So many things are happening in and around the wonderful city of Indianapolis during this month. 

CRIME and lots of it is also happening! Here are a few examples:

• “Pick pockets” are rampant! (even in the least expected places like the grocery store and restaurant waiting lines). 
• Ladies with nice jewelry and those who are making more expensive purchases are being followed home from the Mall and accosted in their garage. 
• Houses are being ransacked while the homeowners are in their back yards. 
• Handbags are being taken from desks. 
• More and more cars are being broken into. 
• Lot’s of drug deals are happening. That means criminals needs lots of cash! 
  • Quick cash can be had by criminals who mug people. 
  • Quick cash can be had by selling everyday items to a pawnshop.

 PLEASE, make sure you are on your guard! 

• USE your alarm system! When you’re in for the night, turn it on! When you leave for the day, turn it on! 
• Be careful with keys; keep them in a safe place. 
• Do not allow unknown or unexpected service personnel free access to your office and don’t allow them in your home. (review this with older adults and young children who may live with you) 
• Don’t discuss vacation plans with people unless they need to know about those plans. 
• Keep valuables in your car hidden and keep the doors locked ALL THE TIME. 
• Be aware of your surroundings. 
• Use the “buddy” system when leaving a building, especially at times when there aren’t lots of other people around. 
• Trim those shrubs and hedges to avoid “hiding places”. 
• Don’t leave exterior lights on during the day. 
• USE YOUR ALARM SYSTEM! TEST YOUR ALARM SYSTEM!
