Alarm Lady Bulletin - 06
When Temperatures Drop, Home Injuries Rise!
Happy New Year!
When temperatures drop, home injuries rise! The Home Safety Council identifies THREE primary hazards to watch for:
- Carbon Monoxide (CO) Poisoning
- House Fires
- Power Outages
General Alarm can help!
- Fire Detection Systems designed according to recommendations by the NFPA {National Fire Protection Association}
- We’ve been an NFPA member since 1989.
- Recommendations change! If we haven’t visited you for a while, we’d be happy to make a free Customer Service visit and make sure your Fire Detection System complies with the latest recommendations by the NFPA. You should have:
- One Photoelectric Smoke Detector per bedroom
- One Photoelectric Smoke Detector per level (sometimes two per level depending on the size of your home
- Fixed Temperature Heat Detectors in spaces that have a tendency for “high heat” fires such as:
- Attics, Furnace and/or Utility Rooms, Garages, Kitchens
- Carbon Monoxide Detectors that may be added in with your existing Security System that will have the same back-up battery and power supply, AND it’s monitored by our terrific 24-hour Central Station team!
- If you have units that are plugged in at the normal receptacle level (about 7” off the floor) then this unit probably won’t do much good.
- If your power is out for some reason, and you only have an AC connected unit, it won’t help you.
- In 2002, we formed an alliance with “Harvest Protection” who is one of the best surge suppression experts around.
- Contact Linda or Nancy at our office (925-8915) and they’ll be happy to get information to you for these services.
As always, I hope this information helps to keep you safe! We consider it a privilege to work for you!
With your security in mind, I am,
